Hurricane Dorian Updates

We will post periodic updates throughout the duration of the storm here and to our Facebook pages

Hurricane Dorian Update: Tuesday 9/3/2019 – Final update

This will be our final update as we are happy to say that Hurricane Dorian has been downgraded to a Category 2 storm and is off the coast of Florida with no extreme threat to our community. Throughout the weekend, the campus maintained power and operated as close to normal as possible while we monitored the path of the storm. We want to thank our staff who were dedicated to the safety of our residents and ensured the necessary preparations were made if/when needed. We ask that you please pray for the residents of the Bahamas, who endured the worst of storm, and the northern coastal states as this storm continues to move north.

Hurricane Dorian Update: Monday 9/2/2019

Hurricane Dorian is projected to start moving northeast up the coast of Florida and should remain north just offshore. We continue to monitor the path and progress of the storm as we could potentially still receive high winds and rain. The current weather as of Monday night is scattered rain with the campus having full power. We remain prepared for any type of impact of this storm to ensure the safety of our residents and staff. We continue to have additional staffing in place to maintain services and care as well as ample supplies of food, water, and prescription medicines, which will be delivered to residents when needed. Our generators are ready should we have a loss of power. Because of the shift the storm has taken, we have not activated our call center but are ready to do so if needed. We will share any additional information and will continue to provide periodic updates here and on our Facebook page. Please pray for not only the state of Florida residents, but also for the Bahamas and northern states now in the storm’s path.

Hurricane Dorian Update: Sunday 9/1/2019

Our staff continue to monitor the path and progress of Hurricane Dorian. The storm is moving slowly and has shifted to track just off the coast of Florida for the time being, however we are still looking at high winds and rain. Our team members at the community have prepared for any type of impact of this storm to ensure the safety of our residents and the staff. There is additional staffing in place to maintain services and care. We have ample supplies of food, water, and prescription medicines, which will be delivered to residents when needed. Our generators are ready should we have a loss of power. As of right now, we plan to activate our call center Monday morning, if necessary, to allow our staff to focus on the safety of our residents. We will share the call center information here once activated. We are committed to continue to provide updates here and on our Facebook page.

Hurricane Dorian Update: Friday 8/30/2019

We are monitoring the developments of Hurricane Dorian in the Atlantic, which is expected to impact the state of Florida in the next few days. Covenant Living of Florida staff, along with support from our headquarters, are making the necessary arrangements to prepare for the storm. This means ensuring our emergency generators are functioning, having ample medical supplies, prescription medications, food, and drinking water. We have adequate staffing in place to ensure that regular services continue with little or no interruption. Management will monitor the situation and stay up-to-date on all reports from emergency management services and the national hurricane center. We will be establishing a Covenant Living call center to handle any calls from those seeking information about our community and will provide updates on our website.  We will provide that number once it is up and running as the storm progresses.  It is important that all of us be vigilant. The health, safety and well-being of our residents is a top priority.

You can continue to check back here and our Facebook page for more information throughout the weekend.
